How much would YOU pay for "Gourmet Salt"?
I recently read an article that detailed a "salt sampler rack" (like a spice rack but with different salts) that sold for over $100.00. I just can't imagine who's buying over $100.00 in gourmet salt. I could see spending 5 bucks on some cool looking black salt, but I imagine that's probably still a pretty hard sell for most people.
Maybe I'm missing something.

Did it look REALLY cool? I bet that sampler rack would've been a super stylish kitchen accessory. At least it better be, for > $100...
Actually, it looked a bit...dowdy?
I can't find the article talking about the salt rack, but this is the product: $165 at Red Envelope!!!

I'm not sure what is says about me, but I would consider purchasing the salt rack. Not at the price though. Are they for real? The salt rack looks very apothecary-ish. Also, I recently purchased a Whirley Pop. http://www.popcornpopper.com/24000.html
Mike, what a wonderful blog you have! As for salt- Julia Child's feeling was that salt is salt and that she (the author of Mastering the Art of French Cooking) could care less.
